NEW BOATS: MARITIMO S50 CRUISING MOTORYACHT

New Boats: Maritimo S50 Cruising Motoryacht

Accepting that flybridge cruisers are limited by their towering demeanor in enclosed waterways and that not everyone needs a second level, Maritimo has released a new sedan-style S50 Cruising Motoryacht.

The luxury builder is expecting the S50 to have broad appeal for a range of purchasers who prefer single-level boating or having to negotiate low-slung bridges to reach home berth.

The new 53-footer evolved from a revision of one of Maritimo’s most successful flybridge boats, the M48. The yard refining and extending the old model to create the new-look M50 flybridge motoryacht and from that the sedan version.

The boatbuilder says the original M48 is one of its most successful models with more than 100 sold internationally.

Maritimo’s Greg Haines said the market for single-level sedans was strong for a boat like the S50.

“There is a very strong market segment where purchasers want to have everything on the one level,” said Haines. “Older purchasers particularly want to keep it all on one level and not have to negotiate flybridges.”

Haines said the renowned fuel efficiency and performance levels that were hallmarks of Maritimo had not been compromised in the S50 and the hull design made for exceptional sea keeping.

FAMILY FRIENDLY

“The layout provides a full-beam master suite, a double VIP/guest cabin forward and starboard bunk cabin,” he said.

“The full-beam master suite, which is luxurious and spacious, makes the boat perfect for families who have several children or for cruising couples who want their own space and privacy while also being able to take up to two other couples with them at times.

“By having their own master suite with en suite, their privacy and comfort is assured,” Haines said.

VOLVO VROOM

The S50 comes with Volvo Penta powerplants and is driven by traditional shaftdrives, or pod drives if requested.

The stern is available in two configurations, standard is Maritimo’s conventional island module and optional is the new Euro transom with plush seating and rear access to the lazarette.

Haines said as with the first model the positioning of the galley aft was a big plus and owner feedback said it was one of the key features in making the S50 so livable.

“The wide walkaround decks also feature heavily in our research as being something that really attracts people to this particular model,” Haines added.
