New Boats - Palm Beach 45
Palm Beach Motor Yachts launched its very first PB45 at Brooklyn just north of Sydney in April, and this week introduces the latest of the range to the public at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
“With a new contemporary layout, we have managed to take quite a few hours out of this boat without compromising our high quality,” said company founder Mark Richards. “We remain focussed on building the best boats possible but are very excited to bring a boat to market with a list price of $1.2m.”
The PB45 in standard form is matched with twin Volvo Penta IPS400s providing an expected top speed of 26kts. The foam sandwich construction process is claimed to provide an ultra-light weight of 12 tonnes. Combining this with a super-slippery semi-displacement hull, Palm Beach believes this is the most fuel efficient boat in its class.
The build said the PB45’s handling and seagoing nature is “exceptional” and something the builder’s team is proud of. "We build boats, not floating caravans," emphasises Richards.
The metallic, silver-brown-coloured PB45 called Ammonite will stop off at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on its way to homeport of Hamilton Island.
“Feedback from (Ammonite’s) clients so far on the all-new contemporary fitout has been sensational. We are going to introduce it into all of our models as an option,” said Richards.
“For owners with kids or boats that get a large amount of use, we feel the contemporary fitout will provide an attractive alternative to the teak-dominated traditional fitout that our boats are well-known for,” he said.
Palm Beach said it continues to satisfy strong demand for its bespoke, semi-custom luxury motoryachts with a solid forward order book.
