UPDATE - TALISKER BOUNTY BOAT 2010 EXPEDITION

Trade-a-Boat’s Ocean Adventure columnist Don McIntyre has dislocated a little toe in a knockdown, as he and three others sail a 23ft open boat across the Pacific Ocean emulating the 1789 feat of Captain William Bligh.

McIntyre’s partner, Margie, reports to us that during her last contact with Bounty Boat

, Don told her they were in the middle of a gale and had their first knockdown.

“…Don dislocated his little toe. Seas 6m and wind 35-knot southeast. They are looking for an island to hide behind to have a rest, but all having fun!” said Margie McIntyre.

Don and three crew — David Pryce, David Wilkinson and Christopher Wilde — left the island of Tofua, near Tonga, on April 28 to emulate Bligh’s 3618nm voyage to Timor.

In our forthcoming issue of Trade-a-Boat, on sale May 12, McIntyre writes of the expedition’s arrival in Tonga and the enthusiastic reception they received from the locals.
