COMMERCIAL NEWS - Incat Crowther enjoys success in China
Incat Crowther has recently won two separate design contracts with AFAI Shipyard in Panyu, China.
The first of these projects is a design-contract for two 35m catamaran ferries for Zhuhai High Speed Ferry Co.
The contract for these ferries was a competitive tender that placed great emphasis on performance and technical quality, said Incat Crowther. The Australian design company said it assisted AFAI win the two-vessel contract with world-leading catamaran technology developed from a foundation of robust proven designs.
The vessels will accommodate 198 passengers, all on the main deck. A large bar is situated amidships, and here are two VIP rooms. Crew accommodation, pantry and electrical rooms are located aft on the main deck.
The vessels will be powered by a pair of MTU 16V2000 M70 main engines.
The second design project for AFAI is for two 34m catamaran ferries for Shenzen Xunlong Passenger Ferries. These vessels will carry 188 passengers.
They will feature 152 economy class seats on the main deck with a kiosk forward. The spacious upper deck will have 20 seats located at tables, a 10-passenger lounge and a six-passenger VIP lounge. As with the 35m ferries, these vessels will be powered by a pair of MTU 16V2000 M70 main engines. The vessels will be fitted with a pair of MJP 550DD water jets.
Meanwhile, Incat Crowther said two 28 composite catamaran ferries have been launched by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Doumen, China.
Sea Serene and Sea Superb are the fourth and fifth Incat Crowther catamarans for the operator, Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry Holdings. The vessels were made in a female mould that has an interchangeable centre module. This allows a range of lengths for the design from 24m to 32m.
Sea Serene and Sea Superb are configured to carry 425 passengers at a service speed of 25kts. Incat Crowther says also has a 28m version of this design under construction in Russia.
