GME launches global-first XRS radio with GPS tracking

GME has launched the Australian-made XRS-660 Handheld UHF CB Radio — making sea communications safer and easier.

Communicating while out to sea has never been easy, but thanks to technological innovations it’s become a lot easier in our day and age. And adding to that innovation is Australian telecommunications company, GME. GME has just launched a global-first XRS radio with GPS tracking — ensuring true location awareness without relying on a smartphone to provide location data.

Safety should always be a top concern, especially when out on unpredictable, open waters. With a new XRS-660 radio on board your vessel you can feel safe and connected even when in mobile phone black spot areas.

To ensure yours and your passengers’ safety, the device offers some exciting new features. These include being the first handheld UHF CB radio to feature a Transflective Colour Display (TFT) LCD screen, providing the ultimate handheld radio display for all environmental conditions — even in full sunlight. Plus, its Bluetooth audio connectivity allows the XRS-660 to wirelessly connect to an extensive rage of third-party audio accessories, providing users with new and improved ways to stay connected.

And, of course, the device is ready for any weather conditions, especially the wet ones you experience boating. The rugged IP67 Ingress Protection and a MIL-STD810G rating makes the XRS-660 the toughest handheld UHF CB Radio yet.

Commenting on the new release, GME safety expert, Tony Crooke, said, “For Aussies travelling or working in remote and regional areas, staying in touch is vital to ensuring they get home safe. That’s why GME is proud to launch the XRS-660 — the first-ever XRS handheld radio with GPS tracking capabilities.

“Building on the market-leading innovation of GME’s popular range of XRS Connect UHF CB radios, Australians can now have total peace of mind knowing they can communicate with their fellow travellers or workers all while their live location is visible, without mobile phone service.”

The XRS-660 Handheld UHF CB Radio is $549. A full stockist list is available on the GME website
