What’s on at this year’s Melbourne Boat Show

If you’re in Victoria later this month, make sure you check out all the boating and fishing action at this year’s FREE Show.

Spring has officially sprung, and more and more boats are appearing on our shorelines. To coincide with the warmer weather and boating season upon us, the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) is throwing the Melbourne Boat Show for the 61st time from 26–29 October 2023 at the NewQuay Promenade, Harbour Esplanade and North Wharf in Docklands, Melbourne.

As Victoria’s premier boating event, this free four-day Show gives both novice and experienced boaters the chance to learn everything there is to know about the marine lifestyle. From the latest fishing gear to wakeboarding and water sports education and delicious seafood cooking demonstrations, the Melbourne Boat Show is a must-attend for keen boaters and anglers. Read on to learn more about what to expect at this year’s Show.

What’s on

After 60 successful years, the BIAV is very proud to host the 61st Melbourne Boat Show. As a free event (although you must register for tickets, more on this below), the Show offers boaters from all over the opportunity to learn how to make their adventures on the water even more enjoyable.

There will be everything from fishing boats to cruising yachts, ski boats and jet skis on display throughout the Show, giving visitors the opportunity to discover their ideal boating lifestyle with the best and brightest in boating, watercraft and marine technology brought together at one event.

In addition to the sensational boat displays along the Docklands waterfront and across the five marinas, the four action-packed days also include stage presentations (which will dive into some tantalising seafood cooking demonstrations), a fun kids’ zone, the Heritage & Wooden Boat precinct, Tackle Island, the Rig Rundown, Super Tank, a boat competition and much more.

This year’s Show will feature more than 80 exhibitors and hundreds of boats with some new-release vessels. For a full list of the 2023 exhibitors, just click here.

New to boating?

This year’s Show celebrates those new to the boating lifestyle with a Welcome to Boating Hub. The Hub includes a number of educational demonstrations that aim to give novice boaters the knowledge and tools they need to get started in their own boating journey.

Marine Safety Victoria will be there demonstrating how to properly use important safety gear such as fire extinguishers and flares, and Dunbier Trailers will be going through what you can do to make reversing and launching your boat trailer a smoother and less stressful process.

Better Boating Victoria will also be on stage to demonstrate the tools needed for trip preparation and the Victorian Fisheries Authority will tell us all about responsible fishing. These demonstrations, while aimed at, aren’t only for those new to boating … if you feel you need a refresher on any of the above and more, don’t hesitate to visit the Hub.
