As Western Australia’s biggest boating show, it’s a chock-a-block weekend full of entertainment and education for all ages. Read on to learn more about what to expect at this year’s Show.
What’s on
Brought to you by the Boating Industry Association of WA, and after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, this year’s Show promises to be better than ever. The Show is intended to promote the boating lifestyle in WA by equipping visitors with everything they need to get into boating, with the latest boating and fishing information and advice, interactive activities for all ages, demonstrations from experts, the opportunity to do their recreational skipper’s ticket test at the Show, plus advice on travel and destinations.
This year’s special guest is legendary Aussie cricketer turned keen angler, Merv Hughes. Merv has his own fishing show on Channel 7 called Merv Hughes Fishing and is excited to be at this year’s Show to impart his wisdom with the crowd. Merv will be on the Engel Fishing Stage daily at 11–11:35am sharing his secrets for the best fishing spots in WA. Make sure you head over to say hi!
The Show, as always, is an angler’s paradise and invites anglers of all ages and abilities. There will be plenty of fishing gear and fishing action on offer including the City Toyota Fishing Zone where all the latest gear will be available at ‘special Show’ prices, the Engel Aquatank Fishing Stage where visitors can get fishing tips and the latest fishing information from experts, and the all-new Fishing Masterclasses — with a full schedule of topics each day including how to use sounders, how to get into spearfishing, choosing the right lures and plenty more.
And if you’re up for showing off your fishing skills, there will be the Bream Comp held on Elizabeth Quay. Hosted by West Australian Tournament Anglers, the competition is a not-for-profit series in WA with the simple concept of whoever catches the most bream, wins. Oh, and if your little ones are prodigy anglers, there is a competition for them too. The popular Kid’s Casting Competition is back again this year, offering kids the opportunity to win some awesome prizes for their catches.

This year there will be plenty of new-release boats on display from exhibitors including Aquasports Marine, Axopar, Chivers Marine, Genesis Craft, Hitech Marine, Malibu Boats WA, Mandurah Outboards, Raymarine, Razerline, West Coast Boat Works, Westerberg Marine Aluminium Boats, West RIBs, Whittley Boats and more.
If you’re interested in marine accessories and boating-related products, there are dozens of exhibitors displaying the latest stuff. The list of exhibitors includes Boat Monster, Diverse Engineering (WA), DOCKPRO, DC Deck Co, Hyperion Systems, RCR Marine Breakdown, STEYR Motors Australia, SWS Pacific and many more.
And this year’s Show is hosting, for the first time, the new Mega Auction for Charity. Items will be on display near the Engel Fishing Stage on Friday and Saturday, with the auction taking place at 1pm on Saturday, 16 September.
