BENETEAU’s Oceanis 37.1 premiering at Cannes Yachting Festival 2023
BENETEAU is proud to announce that the latest Oceanis cruiser — the Oceanis 37.1 — will be premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
This new 37-footer is the eighth and final gem in BENETEAU
Premiering at the Cannes Yachting Festival that will be held this September, visitors will be able to witness just how versatile and harmonious the Oceanis 37.1’s design is. Easy to sail and to use, the Oceanis 37.1 is also very comfortable — all of which are characteristics of a true Oceanis.
Renewing a model is always a challenge, particularly when it is one of the best-sellers on the market, which the previous model, the Oceanis 38.1, was during its nine years on the water. When beginning the journey of creating the Oceanis 37.1, the architect and designer, Marc Lombard and Nauta Design, were given two key features to incorporate: greater volume and improved performance. And this had to be done while still retaining the ease of use that has been a hallmark of the Oceanis cruisers since the range was first launched in 1986.
Intelligently designed
The Oceanis 37.1 interior is remarkably spacious, something you would not guess from its sleek profile, and the generously sized saloon is almost as large as the 40-footer. The innovative hull design features a flared rib that maintains lines below water and achieves greater power and stability. It also improves the hull rigidity, controlling the weight well and providing greater volume inside the bow.
Located offset to port, the Oceanis 37.1’s saloon has plenty of room to sit back and relax, with a sofa and comfortable table that seats up to six. The area faces the lengthwise galley, where the crew can go about its business without getting in the way. The guests are not disturbed by the passageway to the fore cabin, where owners and guests alike can enjoy a peaceful space to sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the water through the large portholes integrated into the hull side.
In the two-bathroom version of the Oceanis 37.1, the bed is positioned against the starboard hull and is generously sized, while the stern offers premium levels of comfort. The standard version features a king-size double bed and a large sail locker aft of the bathroom, which can be accessed from inside or out. There is even good-sized bedding in the three-cabin version.
The spacious feel of the Oceanis 37.1 design continues around the central table in the large, open cockpit.
And when at anchor, and all helm seats have been fitted, owners can enjoy the wide walkway that opens onto a lowered bathing platform, perfect for a pleasant and safe swim.
A contemporary cruiser
The outdoor space is very open and does not include a backstay — and for those familiar with the Oceanis range, this might be a familiar layout seen on the Oceanis 30.1 and 34.1. The rig is tall and promises excellent performances from the Oceanis 37.1 — and in-mast furling system is an optional inclusion. In the standard version with a self-tacking jib, there was a focus on making the sailing experience easier, while sailors who enjoy lively boats will love the First Line version with the square-top mainsail and furling genoa (22 per cent additional area). To retain easy handling shorthanded, all the rigging is brought back to the two aft winches. Only the halyards remain grouped around the coach roof. All the instruments, including a 7in plotter, can be found on the starboard helm console.
Sustainable and stylish
Elevating sustainability and style, the Oceanis 37.1 features Iroko, an eco-friendly alternative to teak, in the cockpit decking. The decking was completed using a new assembly process called Iro-DECK and perfected by BENETEAU. Each strip of plywood decking is made up of several laminated layers, which guarantee a uniform colour, excellent sustainability and rule out the risk of cracks, which are frequent in solid wood decks.
The Oceanis 37.1’s forward-looking ethos and effort to include more sustainable options can also be seen in its engine power. Carbon-free sailing is popular, particularly when cruising on inland waterways, so the Oceanis 37.1 is available with an electric motor with a 12kW pod and 10kWh batteries. This offers enough power for a cruising range of two hours at 5 knots between two charges, all emission-free and in eco-friendly silence.
To see these innovations in person, head to the Cannes Yachting Festival, held on 12–17 September. This won’t be BENEATEAU’s only premiere at the event — so make sure you check out the Antares 12 world premiere while you’re there.
