A fishing-focused line up at the 2023 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show

Fishing enthusiasts will be hooked at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from May 25 to 28, with the launch of a host of new fishing products, and a huge line up of fishing-focused events and entertainment.

Fishing weapons for hardcore anglers

AMC Boats will showcase a complete premium range of fishing and leisure trailerable boats with brands such as Aquamaster, Bar Crusher, Baysport and Edencraft, as well as premium USA brands, Contender and Tidewater.

In among its line-up, AMC will introduce the Bar Crusher 730HT, a bullet proof offshore fishing weapon for hardcore anglers who want to push the boundaries.

“All our brands are well known and respected within our market, known for their exceptional performance, build quality and resale value,” says Rod Elliott, dealer principal at AMC Boats.

Create your dream boat

Another fishos favourite, Reefrunner Boats, will launch a new range of plate aluminium catamarans and tinnies at SCIBS.

“We will be showcasing two of our 7800 Assassin Catamarans and our 4800 Coastline heavy duty tinny,” says Mick Owens, managing director at Reefrunner Boats. “Our vessels are built to create endless opportunities for the most adventurous fisher, giving them the opportunity to create their dream boat that will get them to the farthest reaches in the utmost safety and comfort.”

Serious offshore action

WaveCraft is bringing a range of fishing boats to the Show. From the 6.25m mono-hull for day tripping, to the 8.8m catamaran for extended on board stays and longer range, WaveCraft Boats are built for serious offshore action. Built tough from 5083 marine grade alloy, WaveCraft boats are also designed to be smooth and stable, packed with rod holders and other features such as live bait and fish tanks. For safety, they are also fitted with EPIRB, grab rails, anti-slip flooring and foam fill hulls for positive buoyancy.

Navico – built for the catch

Always a favourite with fishing aficionados, Navico will again showcase cutting edge equipment to anglers at this year’s Show.

This year, Navico will launch a host of products that have never been seen in Australia, designed to help you find, see and catch more fish, including the Lowrance HDS® PRO, the ultimate fish finding tool; Lowrance’s highest resolution live sonar, the ActiveTarget 2; and a new radar from Simrad.

Reel experts on show

Australian owned and operated family business Frogleys Offshore represents some of Australia’s top fishing brands. Frogleys will launch several new products including the Majorcraft Ceana spinning reel, made of carbon alloy, which is resistant to saltwater corrosion and gives the reel low weight and great strength; and the new JigPara Vertical Long Slow, with a concave design on a vertical knife shaped jig to deliver a slow fall speed.

Also making its debut is the Bassday Crystal Pencil, a solid acrylic lure with an exceptional casting distance, that uses optical trickery by using a long body to create a disturbance on the surface while the pattern uses two eyes and imitates a small single or two small swimming fish.

Live Bream Shoot Out

A prize pool of $10,000 is baiting entrants from around the country into the Live Bream Shoot Out, hosted by SCIBS Ambassador and 7NEWS weather, beach, boating and fishing expert Paul Burt.

The Live Bream Shoot Out, where anglers see who can catch the heaviest amount of fish in two days, takes place on 27 and 28 May. The winning team will take home $2,000 in cash, and all entries go into the draw to win a range of prizes from Anaconda, Berkley, Garmin and Step Outside with Paul Burt.

Catch and Cook on the Main Stage

Paul Burt will also host the Main Stage where he will entertain and educate with his live cooking demonstrations.

Paul Burt says the Show is a beloved event for the fishing community.

“It’s just the most fantastic Show, with something for everyone. You can check out multi-million dollar yachts, trailerable boats and PWCs as well as all the gadgets and gear. You aren’t stuck in an entertainment centre, you are outdoors wandering around the stunning precinct of Sanctuary Cove. You just can’t beat it.”

This year, tickets are available online only - there will not be a box office at the Show. Early bird tickets are available now until May 18 from $27 (kids under 16 enter for free with a paying adult).
