Maritimo’s 2022 in review
Luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo had a busy 2022, boasting new releases and significant milestones.
In 2022, the company rolled out six new models and entered the final stages of pre-production for the M75 and S75 models, which are due for release in the first half of 2023.
Tom Barry-Cotter, Managing Director of Maritimo, is pleased with the company’s 2022 sales growth, which has helped to build its footprint in countries like the US, Australia and Japan.
“It has been another great sales year across the globe. Maritimo is benefitting from a compounding effect, partly due to our intensive product development strategy. The Australian market is accounting for about 40% of our sales with New Zealand 20%. Following that, the next biggest market outside Australia would be the US, which currently accounts for about 35% of our sales.”
Like most manufacturers of boats, Maritimo has not been immune to parts shortages and supply chain disruptions. However, the company has managed these potential problems smoothly and effectively, ensuring customers are able to enjoy their boats without lengthy delays.
Human resource management is something Maritimo does incredibly well. With its culture of inclusion and staff development, Maritimo has continued to build its workforce of skilled tradespeople.
Maritimo Operations Manager Phil Candler says the company takes great pride in helping tradespeople develop their skills and grow professionally.
“One example of success from this program is one of our apprentices, Matthew Warren, winning the 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award from TAFE. Warren was recognised from a pool of over 2000 apprentices on the Gold Coast, across all industries and trades. This demonstrates that it’s all about recruiting quality people, with the right attitude, training and support.”
Another highlight of Maritimo’s year has been its partnership with Rolls Royce Power Systems mtu. These powerplants are offered as upgrades for the M75 and S75 models. This means that many of these vessels have been fitted with the 1625hp V10 mtu diesels, rather than the Scania Di13 1150MHP units. The M75 and S75 will be unveiled at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in 2023.
Finally, as the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race draws near, the company has been busy preparing its “Maritimo 11”, which will be officially unveiled on 16 December 2022. This TP52 is highly powerful, and combined with the strength of its experienced crew, Maritimo is hopeful of a Sydney to Hobart victory.
