Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 Review
Beneteau’s 100 years of experience and know-how is reflected in its Trawler range flagship, the Grand Trawler 62.
With a full displacement hull developed by Micad naval architects after more than 300 hours of fluid dynamic calculations and tank testing, this 18-metre passage maker has a cruising range of 1050 nautical miles at 9 knots and a central raised driving station ideal for slow cruises.
Fitted with two MAN 2 x 730 HP engines, it has plentiful reserve power to reach 20 knots when required.
Designed by Nauta Design, the interior layout boasts an incredible amount of space and style with simple and harmonious lines. As standard the bulkheads and cabinetwork are in warm walnut shades or in waxed light oak and the choice of trims is a reflection of French luxury and Italian design.
There is a spacious saloon with a sofa and sideboard opposite or an additional two-seater sofa. This space can also be configured with lifting 50” TV, drawer fridge and wine cooler providing all the amenities you could wish for in this area. The eight-person dinette features four folding dining chairs that can be used externally as well.
Opposite the dining area, the galley opens onto the saloon. This practical space can be closed off with a sliding door (optional). It includes a full height 255 litre fridge freezer adjacent to four burner induction hob with charcoal hood and 40 litre multifunction microwave oven below with wine rack to the side. Adjacent to the galley side door there is plentiful work surface with sink and trash receptacle.
The main helm is the heart of this long passage maker. The console features space for up to three 16” MFD screens, joystick control and logical ergonomics. The reverse angle one-piece central windscreen in combination with the central steering position and door to starboard with stairs to fly directly behind the helm all combine to allow for great visibility and easy circulation. The Grand Trawler 62 also has enough space to comfortably house a crew.
A large cockpit has a transom that opens fully onto the sea, creating a seamless space between the deck lounge and the generously proportioned swim platform. The transparent pushpit with sliding gates leading to full-width steps down to the swim platform creates the perfect ‘terrace to the sea’.
The impressive 34 square metres of flybridge space makes it one of the largest in this size. A large U-shaped sofa provides space for eight guests around the table. It has the additional features of relaxation spaces and a fitted wet bar facing the guests.
