Tackling innovation and supply challenges
The Adventure Boat Company is bringing some of the best global boat brands to the Australian market.
In Australia, demand for boats has increased exponentially, and with continuing global supply chain issues, supply has become even more challenging for Australian consumers. A big, successful boat company with limited stock has little need to improve or innovate when boats are sold before they even finish production, and prices inevitably creep upwards as a result.
At the same time, much like utes in the motor industry, boats are more than ever expected to be able to take on multiple roles. At one point they need to be a tender, ferrying you from A to B. They’ve also then got to be able to perform when you want to have some fun, providing an exhilarating driving experience, towing some skiers, or a tube. And they’ve got to entertain comfortably, with the ability to store cold drinks, cook, go to the toilet, or even cruise overnight or over a weekend.
In Australia at least, innovation has not really been keeping up. Until now. Campbell Wills and David Carpenter from The Adventure Boat Company are two guys with a long-standing passion for boating, who looked globally for a solution to these two challenges.
They realised that there were some amazing boat builders overseas who were innovating in very clever ways, and producing boats that offered amazing versatility, coupled with a level of affordability that Australia hasn’t seen before.
The Adventure Boat Company is the culmination of their vision to bring together some of the best global boat brands and offer incredibly capable boats to the Australian market at prices that offer amazing value, while delivering significant benefits over existing brands.
It is definitely a company to watch if you are looking to buy a new boat anytime soon — they carry an ever-increasing range of boats, each with something special that allows them to cater to anyone’s idea of adventure.
There’s the Saxdor 320, which provides the entertaining room of a 40ft boat in a 32ft package, and a 28ft price tag.
Or the XO Boats range that couples a military-grade Deep V aluminium hull to a GRP superstructure to deliver excellent comfort in a boat that is capable of the most extreme adventures.
Continuing in its relentless pursuit for innovation and excellence, The Adventure Boat Company has now launched the Quarken brand in Australia. From the team that brought multi awarding-winning Scandinavian boats such as Finnmaster, Grandezza and Husky, Quarken is the latest brand to be conceived by this famed Finland team.
The Quarken 27, available in both T-Top and Cabin variants, embodies Nordic design principles of simplicity and functionality. This makes it incredibly versatile and adaptable, and the level of thinking that has gone into every aspect of the design is immediately obvious from the moment you lay eyes on the boat.
Technology has been seamlessly integrated into the overall design. The boats are powered by the latest Yamaha V6 engines, using digital fly-by-wire throttle and electric steering on every boat. The console is offset to make the best use of space, and every model comes with a large twin berth with ensuite toilet. The layout is very flexible with plug-and-play seating (adjustable to make stunning sun beds) to cater for every occasion.
And while most Scandinavian brands are based in Finland, Norway and Sweden, invariably much of the manufacturing is outsourced to locations such as Poland and Slovenia to reduce costs and increase margins. Quarken, however, is one company intent on swimming against this tide. Every Quarken is conceived, designed and built in Finland, a country that has developed a reputation as one of the best boat-building countries in the world. In a country where the sea freezes over each winter, you need boats that you can trust, and Quarken delivers incredible quality while still maintaining highly competitive prices.
The Quarken 27 arrives in Australia in December and will be available in Cabin and T-top formats. A limited number of boats will be available over the summer and into 2023, with special introductory pricing available on the first six boats sold as part of Qaurken’s global launch of the boat. What’s more, the Quarken 27 has already been nominated for ‘European Power Boat of the Year 2023’ by Motorboat & Yachting Magazine, so it seems that the genie is well and truly out of the bottle when it comes to the Quarken brand!
Quarken is just one of a significant number of boats and brands that The Adventure Boat Company is bringing to Australia. The company selects the boats it distributes here based on the quality of finish the boats display, the level of innovation and functionality, and the value for money they offer.
They have a national footprint already, and are expecting the Quarken will be a sellout when it arrives. Definitely a boat brand to keep your eye on!
