Apprentice of the Year

Zoe de Pryck of luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo has been awarded Boating Association’s 2021 Queensland Apprentice of the Year.

The now fully qualified cabinet maker was the winner of the first-year apprentice awards for cabinet making in her first year, the second place getter in her second year, and the first place getter in her third year, as well as a finalist in the South East Queensland Training Awards in all trades last year.

Having emigrated from Belgium a few years before seeking an apprenticeship at Maritimo in 2017, de Pryck said she is keen to take on a leadership role within the company, in the boating industry in general, and to help encourage more females to step into the industry.

Phil Candler, Maritimo’s General Manager, said de Pryck was an outstanding and talented employee.

“We have an impressive line-up of apprentices at Maritimo and the win by Zoe is really a recognition not only of her skills and work ethos, but also that of all our young people,“ he said.

“They are the future of our industry and I can honestly say we feel it could not be in better hands.”

Maritimo is currently looking to increase its apprenticeship numbers across all trades.
