International Spotlight: Wally WHY200
Wally’s first full-wide-body yacht is here to push design boundaries
All the space you need
Wally vessels are well sought after, with the yard known for its innovation in both design and technology onboard. Suited to today’s market, Wally’s new WHY200 offers owners the living space and stability they are searching for. The yacht combines function and form with new elements, including a 4.7-metre-high glazed bow to maximise seaworthiness and combines comfort and space with speed and performance.
What makes this yacht so special is that it has about 50 per cent more living space than traditional vessels of the same size. Onboard, the three decks are connected by a masterful one-piece laminated carbon staircase and there is plenty of room to entertain, with the open living area reaching a spacious 50sqm. This can be extended out onto the deck, with the fold-down beach club bulwarks both giving access to the sea on three sides and expanding the room to move. A large walkway runs between the two garages — that can accommodate a 4.15m jet tender, a wave runner, Seabob, paddleboard and a variety of other water toys — providing even more space.
Wally has achieved another design and engineering feat with the structural pillarless top on the upper deck, providing unobstructed views while maintaining the clean and angular aesthetic for which Wally is known. The 37sqm master suite offers 270-degree views, perfect for waking up to a morning sunset coming over the horizon. Forethought has gone into the design, with the engine room at the opposite end of the boat, so no noise will be heard from the master. As for technology, the Wally WHY200 features a 5G wireless network connection with home automation control, meaning everything can be managed through a mobile phone, both inside and out.
The Wally WHY200 is optimised for both full and semi-displacement cruising and, like other Wally yachts, has a specially made hull designed to cut through the waves with no slamming and minimal pitching. It was a wide beam and, combined with the zero-speed fin stabilities and optional Seakeeper gyros, owners can be rest assured they will have stability both at anchor at sea.
With all the advantages of a catamaran but none of its limitations, the Wally WHY200 shone at its debut at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival.
