International Spotlight: Evo V8

Evo Yachts launches the first of its new range of yachts, the Evo V8, a fully customisable layout vessel fit for life at sea

New yacht customisation opportunities

Italian yacht manufacturer, Evo Yachts, has unveiled its exclusive new flagship and the first model in its new V line, the 24-metre V8. Originally concepted as the Velar 78, the Evo V8’s layout was fully customised by its Italian owner, who wanted a yacht suitable for living at sea. Its minimalist design, penned by Valerio Rivellini, is refined and understated, and is a combination between a sailing and motor yacht to achieve a middle ground of socialisation and relaxation, even when cruising at high speeds.

The mixing of the two types of yachts has allowed for a vessel with four helm stations — the first on the main deck forward of the main salon and the second on the rooftop with a retractable steering console are both joined by two yacht wheels on the port and starboard sides of the main deck. This allows the owner to have close contact with the water while cruising, as well as offering practical manoeuvring capabilities. The helms are surrounded by seats and couches to allow for continued socialising while steering.

The sleek Evo V8 on the water

Depending on the layout chosen by the owner, the beach area can have direct access from the master stateroom. This area is an open space on the water, only 70cm above the waterline, allowing passengers to feel as though they’re walking on the water. The hull sides also open, providing 180-degree views. The beach area connects to the lounge area which has large sliding glass doors — allowing for an open-air patio and a private living area when the door to the exterior deck is closed.

With the layout choices, there are two different staircases that lead from the main deck directly to the lower, allowing for the crew and guest areas to be kept separate. The first V8 features three cabins that sleep seven and a cabin for the crew of two. The salon and dining area are found on the main deck, which also has large windows that can be lowered almost entirely, allowing for cool breezes and further close contact with the sea. By working closely with the owner and designers, Evo Yachts was able to create a new style of vessel catering towards owners who are after a break from standard boats.

The Evo V8 was officially presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021, with Evo Yachts planning to increase its ambitious and innovative projects in the future.
