Sometimes the perfect boat is made elsewhere, which is what an Australian buyer found with Smuggler Marine’s 780 Super Sport. The manufacturer exported the inflatable RIB to Perth from its factory in Auckland, New Zealand, fitted with an array of options and extras at the owner’s request.
The vessel is run by a Mercury 300hp V8 Verado which allows the boat to reach a top speed of 54 knots, perfect for zooming through Western Australian waters. Like its predecessors, the 7.5m and 8m models, the 780 Super Sport has a 27-degree deep vee hull with Hypalon tubes, along with a 150L flooding keel to provide extra stability at rest. The bow area provides seating for five people in its bowrider style layout, which is perfect for owners who love water sports, diving and fishing, and the additional six seats in the main cockpit allows plenty of room to entertain guests.
In keeping up with the times, electrical options like a Simrad NSS12 Touch plotter/sounder, Fusion stereo with two 6in speakers, VHF, a forward-facing light bar and floodlight, LED underwater lighting on transom and a camera fitted in the bow for ease of anchoring are all included. The particular model for the Australian owner has a white gel coat, light grey Hypalon tubes with custom canvas tube covers and upholstery in light grey with the flooring finished in brown/black U-Dek by Ultralon, and this can be changed for buyers’ preferences.
Smuggler Marine Director, David Pringle, said Smuggler Marine continues to provide the quality and innovation that customer’s desire. “The success of our mid cabin model has been huge for us, but not everyone wants to walk around the side decks to go forward and we had some of our superyacht tender clients who wanted to maximise the space available with more seating,” Pringle said.
