33m Al Duhail
Yachting Developments successfully delivered the 33m Al Duhail after its sea trials after working with the owner and their team to design the yacht
Auckland-based Yachting Developments’ 33m Al Duhail saw the company off to a busy start last year. The all-carbon sportfisher features naval architecture and design work by Warwick Yacht Design and an interior design developed by the company’s specialist interior team and the vessel’s owner.
The yacht accommodates 10 overnight guests, including a master suite and four guest cabins, two doubles and two twin bunks, as well as two crew cabins. The Al Duhail features twin MTU 16V 2000 M96L 2000hp engines and has an estimated cruising speed of 20kt, and, if in a hurry, top speeds of 30kt.
The simple, elegant design uses oak wood, with the natural grain on show, and walnut detailing with a semi-gloss finish. The decor is bright and fresh with white panelling and cream carpets, offset by pops of deep blue and mustard in the furnishings. Within the lower deck, the design team placed the guest accommodation at the front, the engine room and Master in the middle and the crew accommodation and storage at the stern. Within the Master suite, the owner opted for a king-sized bed with a widescreen TV, a desk, sofa, ensuite with two sinks, a toilet and shower, and walk-in-wardrobe. Upon walking on the main deck, the gallery can be found at the front with the formal 10-seater dining area behind, followed by a C-shaped sofa, coffee table and armchairs, fit for relaxation. Away from the entertaining area, the bridge acts as a cosy hideaway with more sofas and plenty of window space to view the sea.
The Al Duhail’s exterior showcases a main focus of the yacht, a spacious fishing area and room for diving equipment, including tuna tubes, live bait tanks, a game chair, ice slurry machines and plenty of freezer storage. On the main deck, another curved sofa can be found to relax in the shade, as well as a stairway to starboard that connects to the bridge deck. Up here, a forward curving sofa and drinks table are placed for a quiet place to rest with uninterrupted views.
Ian Cook, Managing Director of Yachting Developments said the Al Duhail was a very enjoyable project to build. “Our specialist composite team made use of full carbon epoxy construction to achieve the desired weight and performance — as a result she is sure to be fast and economical on the water,” he said.
The vessel was safely delivered to Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour after its sea trials and is currently in the hands of its owner.
