Sealegs Amphibious Tender
Still something of a novelty, Sealegs’ new amphibious tender is set to take owners from water to land in the blink of an eye
Picture it. You’re heading towards shore in your latest toy. Waves lapping gently, your guests expect you to stop but you keep going, heading straight up and onto the beach. Down drop the wheels and away you go, stares of wonder following.
Though there are some about, the idea of an amphibious boat can still seem like it belongs more in a James Bond movie than in real life. Nonetheless, there is a definite market for these vessels, as proven by Sealegs which has sold more than 1500 amphibious boats in over 50 countries.
Capitalising on this interest, the world leaders in amphibious technology are adding to their range with the release of a new 3.8m tender, aimed squarely at the superyacht tender market.
With seating capacity for up to five people, the tender is set to be powered by Sealegs’ electric amphibious drive system on land, while a 40hp outboard can be fitted for power on the water. Also featuring a chartplotter, VHF and stereo system, the tender’s fibreglass moulding and console is paired with Hypalon inflatable tubes for strength and durability.
David Mckee Wright, Sealegs CEO, said, “Today’s release of the 3.8m tender acknowledges the overwhelming enthusiasm for a Sealegs amphibious solution to solve the ship-to-shore challenge of many boats. The team at Sealegs are excited to meet that need which has been passionately expressed to us by many aspirational amphibians.”
Sealegs is anticipating high demand and is receiving fully refundable deposits for the tender now. Production plans will be announced and are expected to begin in 2022.
