Omega 47
Don’t be fooled by the luxurious touches Technohull have added to their new release. Deep down, this is a powerful sports boat.
Superyacht styling comes together with sporty performance in Technohull’s latest flagship, the Omega 47. An evolution of the popular Omega 45, this slightly longer and broader model allows for more flexible deck space and a more luxurious interior.
This is achieved via a luxurious double V berth and full height shower and head compartments, unusual in a fast RIB. Up on deck, there are several configurations available to make use of the added room, including extra helm seating, a cockpit table and additional sunpads for lounging.
The superyacht influences are obvious throughout the interior with sleek deckhead windows, quality leather, exotic veneers, and premium Corian. The Omega 47 maintains a practical side as well, though, with lots of storage space belowdecks for clothes and other items.
THE HEART OF A RACEHORSE
Luxurious fittings are all well and good, but it's when you open up the throttle that the Omega 47 shows off its true heritage. Versatile transom design allows you to choose between up to 4 x 450hp Mercury Racing motors, diesel powered inboards, or two of the brand new 600hp Mercury Verado outboards. These are the world’s first V12 outboards, and feature a steerable underwater gearcase, saving space on deck with fixed powerheads.
The Omega 47 is capable of more than 80 knots, evidence of its sports boat DNA. But power is nothing without control, and the boat exhibits strong handling characteristics and impeccable safety thanks to Technohull’s Dynastream hull design. This patented design uses two distinct steps in the hull to channel in air, providing lift, natural cushioning, and unprecedented stability at all speeds. This hyper-ventilated hull shape is 10–15 per cent more efficient than previous Technohull designs, making for greater fuel efficiency and higher speeds.
Technohull say that rigorous simulation and testing processes have allowed them to fully understand their new stepped hull technology and use it to make the Omega 47 plane at low speeds, achieve its impressive top speed, and also make the 47 a dry boat by deflecting spray and cutting waves.
ROOM TO RELAX
Every Technohull features full walkaround decks, and the Omega 47 is no exception with plenty of room to socialise and relax. There’s a large sunpad and seat forward, and an even larger sofa aft that can convert to a second sunpad — you won't be struggling to get your daily dose of vitamin D. A fully equipped wet bar, espresso machine, watermaker, and optional cooktop will keep up to 12 guests fed and watered, and Apollo marine audio helps set the mood.
The helmsperson can maintain complete control thanks to state-of-the-art digital switching. Navigation options run from solid-state Quantum radar to a remote-control searchlight and night vision camera, while the ergonomically designed helm console and mitigating seats make driving the boat intuitive and comfortable.
This combination of performance and spacious luxury appears to be paying off for Technohull, with seven of the Omega 47 flagship already sold. Six will stay in the central Mediterranean, while one is already in the US.
