The Cat's Pyjamas

If living space is at the top of your list, then you can't go past a big cat for comfort

One of the many selling points that catamaran spruikers will tout over their single-hulled counterparts is the ability to stretch out the space between the twin bodies. To begin with, an 80-footer isn't by any means a diminutive boat, but when it's a Sunreef catamaran with a beam that tops out at around 40 feet, there's a huge amount of room to play with.

The Sunreef Power 80 is a long-range cruiser that boasts an interior of domestic proportions. At the owner's discretion, the bow section of the main deck can be built as either a sun-bathed master suite or a large lounge area with access to the bow terrace. Behind this is an open saloon, which can be fully customised to contain any manner of cruising comforts or practicalities, that flows onto the aft cockpit.

An aft-platform works in tandem with a large garage to carry a tender and a selection of toys at the same time. If stationary pleasures are more to their liking, guests can make use of several generous lounge spaces scattered around the decks. The bow houses one of the largest sun lounges you'll ever behold, while the convertible cockpit seating offers respite from the rays under an extended flybridge shelter.

Up on the flybridge there's another large lounging area which serves as a suitable spot to sit back after a soak in the spa. There's a wet bar nearby to keep everyone hydrated and happy, and an easy to operate sunroof that can open and close at the push of a button.

With accommodation for up to 12 guests and self-contained crew quarters, these spacious living areas will be put to good use when friends and family are along for the ride.

If those on board don't, however, end up getting along too well, there's plenty of power on offer to reach land sooner rather than later. At the bottom end, the vessel can be fitted with twin 575-horsepower engines, but for a few extra bucks the powerhouses can be upgraded to a pair of 1200-horsepower beasts. To quench the thirst of these throbbing units, fuel capacity can be upgraded from a total of 10,000 litres to 16,000 litres split between two tanks.

This kind of spacious lifestyle doesn't come cheap though, with a supposed pricetag of around five million... euros.
