Caribbean 2300 Outboard Preview
“It’s been a long time coming, but Melbourne-based International Marine is about to launch its new Caribbean 2300 outboard, and it’s certainly worth the wait. Instantly recognisable, this new addition to the manufacturer’s offshore stable targets the offshore fisho who still wants to trailer their rig around the country. Rated to 300hp (or twin 150s), the new Caribbean 2300 outboard features a brilliant fibreglass hardtop as standard. Big, beamy and with a whopping 425L fuel capacity, you can roam out wide, knowing you’ve got plenty in reserve to get you back home.”
These words first appeared in TrailerBoat magazine #287, published back in October 2012. It’s been close to a year since we first spied the prototype — hull #1 — at International Marine’s R&D lab within the company’s sprawling headquarters in Scoresby, Victoria. The wait was finally worth it when the 2300 Outboard broke cover at the Melbourne Boat Show in June this year. It was eagerly anticipated by willing crowds, as was the Caribbean Cavalier MKII.
