She is a true beauty.&nbsp; I do not really want to let her go.&nbsp; I have rebuilt her 3 times since 2011.
When I first got her we pulled her out of the water in 2011 and took her back to original hull.&nbsp; All through hull seacocks are in good condition. Found some water bogged between keel and hull – dremmilled it out and employed a boat builder to fibreglass the keel – hull connection.&nbsp; He said he thought she is a Mothership (one of a kind) – designed and built in 1975 to sell the design as a Sydney –to – Hobart Racer and establish the design for Miller and Whitworth.&nbsp; This is why she has a gel coat finish in order to make a fibreglass mould to create a line of boats with her lines. Not that long after she was built, Bob miller went bankrupt and Craig Whitworth started the Whitworth’s Chandlery and they finished their sail making – boat building partnership that had spanned many years previously.
She has a whole suite of sails – extra racing headsail (too old), Storm jib, storm main, extra main, reacher, spinnaker.&nbsp; She has an enormous rig – redone in 2010 –stainless steel – still in excellent condition; huge racing winches for the headsail and a complex array of winches under the mast step for trimming the main, running backstay winches that can double as spinnaker winches at the back to the cockpit.&nbsp; She is designed to be able to rake back the mast going to windward.&nbsp; She handles like a dinghy and often sails herself to windward if the sails are balanced well
She is priced to sell quickly as I have not been well and I am paying marina fees in Hervey bay without being able to sail.&nbsp; She had an old salt water cooled 30HP Nanni Diesel engine that I got rebuilt twice.&nbsp; It needs replacing – or could get a 30HP Yanmar to fit gear box. The engine room is under the cockpit an d she has a v- join to the drive shaft so it’s a bit of a job to get the old engine out and a new one installed.&nbsp; If I had the cash, I would certainly do so.
She is a coastal sailor with a traditional galley and an old metho stove. She used to have a Utektic fridge and has the space to be reinstalled.&nbsp; I just use a 12v Camp fridge stored in the starboard quarter berth. I had dreams of putting in a proper stove and larger refrigerator to g blue water sailing but alas it is not the case.
She has 12v electrics all sorted but the instrument/navigation Raymarine A20 needs to be replaced.&nbsp; All of the electrics set up are analogue so this was another dream to replace with wireless/digital gear. All the navigation lights work, heads is set up electric (need to be replaced – new macerator), 2 new marine batteries and one old house battery, has wiring and set up for Carframo fans in the main cabin (that need to be replaced)
I have treated most of any dry rot over the years – using epoxy and filler to replace and damage.&nbsp; There are a few spots around the windows (over galley and Nav table), on the port side closer to the stays – not a big job.
*Excellent storage, safety gear – Epirb, VHS radio + separate hand held, grab bag, first aid 3 x fire extinguishers, 2 x fire blankets, 5 life jackets, 3 x old school safety lines, safe and secure underway with galley seat and lee berths, room for life raft on deck.
*Lightweight design – 5 tonnes, easy to handle, excellent on anchor, 1 x spade anchor 40ibs), 1 x old plough anchor(40IBs), 1 x sand anchor(large), 1 x sea anchor, 40m 10mm chain, 20M rode, working windlass, clean and sturdy anchor locker.
* Comfortable live aboard (a bit rustic).&nbsp; I have lived aboard from 2011 to 2022 and sailed most of Moreton bay, up to Mooloolaba and then to Hervey Bay to play with the whales
